Lesson Topic: Loco motor Skills

Grade Level: Kindergarten, First, Second

Course of Study Objectives:
2- 4. Demonstrate correct form while hopping, galloping, jumping, and sliding.
Specific Objectives:
Cognitive- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to verbally list the different locomotor skills.
Affective- By the end of this lesson, the students will feel comfortable enough in his or her abilities to complete the covered locomotor skills.
Psychomotor- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to perform the proper techniques of all locomotor skills covered.
Introductory: Students will be placed into their lines in order with their class.
Fitness Development: Students will complete the list of stretches and exercises below-
1.) 10 toe touches
2.) ABC’s
3.) 10 Snap Backs
4.) 10 arm circles forward
5.) 10 arm circles backward
6.) 10 Overheads
7.) 10 Jumping Jacks
Lesson Focus: When the music changes students will change to the next loco motor skill. The teacher will tell the students the new loco motor skill each time he changes the music. They will stay on the outside of the cones, while the other students that are waiting are on the boundary line walking.
Activity 1: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of skipping.
Activity 2: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of hopping.
Activity 3: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of jumping.
Activity 4: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of galloping.
Activity 5: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of running.
Activity 6: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of sliding.
Closure: Students will be reminded about what was worked on during Physical Education class that day. This is the time to really reinforce what was covered and how it can/will affect them in their lives.
