CES PE 12-1/12-2

Lesson Topic: Scooters


Lesson Time: 40 minutes

Number of Students: Thirty

Grade Level: Kindergarten, First, Second

Equipment: Scooters

Course of Study Objectives:

K 11. Demonstrate willingness to play with a diverse range of students using sharing skills with equipment and working cooperatively with peers.

Specific Objectives:

Cognitive- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to verbally list the different techniques riding a scooter.

Affective- By the end of this lesson, the students will feel comfortable enough in his or her abilities to ride a scooter.

Psychomotor- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to perform the proper techniques of riding a scooter.

Introductory: Students will be placed into their lines in order with their class.

Fitness Development: Students will complete the list of stretches and exercises below-

1.) 10 toe touches

2.) ABC’s

3.) 10 Snap Backs

4.) 10 arm circles forward

5.) 10 arm circles backward

6.) 10 Overheads

7.) 10 Jumping Jacks

Lesson Focus: Students will remain in their lines and will listen to examples or explanation of what the lesson will be on. Students will be shown how to ride the scooter safely.

Activity 1: Students will ride down to the end of the line forwards (hands by their sides bottoms on the scooter) and come back to the beginning of their line forwards. Other students that are waiting will complete a designated exercise.

Activity 2: Students will ride down to the end of the line backwards (hands by their sides bottoms on the scooter) and come back to the beginning of their line forwards. Other students that are waiting will complete a designated exercise.

Activity 3: Students will ride down to the end of the line forwards (hands by their sides bottoms on the scooter) with a partner pushing them. The partners will switch when they get down to the end of the first line (so both students will get a chance to push). They will then come back to the beginning of their line and switch with the next pair of students. The other students that are waiting will complete a designated exercise.

Activity 4: Students will choose which way they would like to ride the scooter (free choice scooter ride). Other students that are waiting will complete a designated exercise.

Closure: Students will be reminded about what was worked on during Physical Education class that day. This is the time to really reinforce what was covered and how it can/will affect them in their lives.

CES PE 11-29/11-30

Lesson Topic: Overhand Throw Towards a Target


Lesson Time: 40 minutes

Number of Students: Thirty

Grade Level: Kindergarten, First, Second

Equipment: wiffle balls, goals

Course of Study Objectives:

K 4. Demonstrate throwing and catching skills by throwing a ball overhand and underhand and catching a tossed ball before it bounces twice.

Specific Objectives:

Cognitive- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to verbally list the different techniques of the overhand throw.

Affective- By the end of this lesson, the students will feel comfortable enough in his or her abilities to complete an overhand throw.

Psychomotor- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to perform the proper techniques of an overhand throw.

Introductory: Students will be placed into their lines in order with their class.

Fitness Development: Students will complete the list of stretches and exercises below-

Activity 1: Students will placed on the first line with their ball. They will practice throwing the wiffle ball overhand into the basket (which is up against the wall).

Activity 2: Students will placed on the 2nd line with their ball. They will practice throwing the wiffle ball overhand into the basket (which is up against the wall).

Activity 3: Students will placed on the 3rd line with their ball. They will practice throwing the wiffle ball overhand into the basket (which is up against the wall).

Activity 4: Students will choose which line they would like to throw overhand. They will practice throwing the wiffle ball overhand into the basket (which is up against the wall).

Lesson Topic: Loco motor Skills


Lesson Time: 40 minutes

Number of Students: Thirty

Grade Level: Kindergarten, First, Second

Equipment: None

Course of Study Objectives:

2- 4. Demonstrate correct form while hopping, galloping, jumping, and sliding.

Specific Objectives:

Cognitive- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to verbally list the different locomotor skills.

Affective- By the end of this lesson, the students will feel comfortable enough in his or her abilities to complete the covered locomotor skills.

Psychomotor- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to perform the proper techniques of all locomotor skills covered.

Introductory: Students will be placed into their lines in order with their class.

Fitness Development: Students will complete the list of stretches and exercises below-

1.) 10 toe touches

2.) ABC’s

3.) 10 Snap Backs

4.) 10 arm circles forward

5.) 10 arm circles backward

Lesson Focus: When the music changes students will change to the next loco motor skill. The teacher will tell the students the new loco motor skill each time he changes the music. They will stay on the outside of the cones, while the other students that are waiting are on the boundary line walking.

Activity 1: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of skipping.

Activity 2: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of hopping.

Activity 3: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of jumping.

Activity 4: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of galloping.

Activity 5: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of running.

Activity 6: First group of students will complete the loco motor skill of sliding.

Lesson Topic: Cardio Fitness


Lesson Time: 40 minutes

Number of Students: Thirty

Grade Level: Kindergarten, First, Second

Equipment: Jump ropes

Course of Study Objectives:

K 13. Describe benefits of regular participation in physical activities.

Example: developing a healthier body

Specific Objectives:

Cognitive- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to verbally list the importance of cardio fitness.

Affective- By the end of this lesson, the students will feel comfortable enough in his or her abilities to complete various cardio fitness activities.

Psychomotor- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to perform the proper cardio fitness activities.

Introductory: Students will be placed into their lines in order with their class.

Fitness Development: Students will complete the list of stretches and exercises below-

1.) 10 toe touches

2.) ABC’s

3.) 10 Snap Backs

4.) 10 arm circles forward

5.) 10 arm circles backward

Lesson Focus:

Activity 1: Students will be shown the proper way to jump the rope forwards. Then each student will take five jumps then go to the end of their line. The next student will rotate to his or her turn. This will continue on until the music stops.

Activity 2: Students will be shown how to jump rope with a double hop forwards. Then each student will take five jumps then go to the end of their line. The next student will rotate to his or her turn. This will continue on until the music stops.

Activity 3: Students will be shown how to do a backwards jump with the jump rope. Then each student will take five jumps then go to the end of their line. The next student will rotate to his or her turn. This will continue on until the music stops.

Activity 4: Students will be shown how to do a backwards double hop with the jump rope. Then each student will take five jumps then go to the end of their line. The next student will rotate to his or her turn. This will continue on until the music stops.

Activity 5: Students will be allowed to chose their favorite jump rope skill from that days lesson to complete. Then each student will take five jumps then go to the end of their line. The next student will rotate to his or her turn. This will continue on until the music stops.

CES PE 11-14/11-15

Lesson Topic: Striking


Lesson Time: 40 minutes

Number of Students: Thirty

Grade Level: Kindergarten, First, Second

Equipment: Hockey Sticks, foam pucks

Course of Study Objectives:

Specific Objectives:

Cognitive- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to verbally list the different techniques of striking an object.

Affective- By the end of this lesson, the students will feel comfortable enough in his or her abilities to complete a strike against an object.

Psychomotor- By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to perform the proper techniques of striking an object.

Introductory: Students will be placed into their lines in order with their class.

Fitness Development: Students will complete the list of stretches and exercises below-

1.) 10 toe touches

2.) ABC’s

3.) 10 Snap Backs

4.) 10 arm circles forward

5.) 10 arm circles backward

6.) 10 Overheads

7.) 10 Jumping Jacks

Lesson Focus: Students will remain in their lines and will listen to examples or explanation of what the lesson will be on. Students will be shown how to strike a non moving object correctly and safely. (dominant hand in front non dominant at the end of the hockey stick)

Activity 1: Students will placed on the first line with their hockey puck on the line as well. They will practice striking the puck into the net (which is up against the wall).

Activity 2: Students will placed on the 2nd line with their hockey puck on the line as well. They will practice striking the puck into the net (which is up against the wall).

Activity 3: Students will placed on the 3rd line with their hockey puck on the line as well. They will practice striking the puck into the net (which is up against the wall).

Activity 4: Students will choose which line they would like to strike the hockey puck. They will practice striking the puck into the net (which is up against the wall).

Monday/Tuesday - Hoop it Up! - students will play with the hoops on hips, arms, and legs, and jump it like a jump rope

Wednesday/Thursday - Locomotor Skill Relays - students will take turns performing various locomotor skills down to the cones and back

Friday - Veteran's Day Holiday - thank you for your service and dedication to our country!!

CES PE - October 31 through November 4, 2011

Monday/Tuesday - tag games - students will practice the skills of chasing, fleeing, and dodging

Wednesday/Thursday - underhand throwing - students will practice throwing bean bags and small balls to a target from varying distances

Friday - scooter relays - students will take turns riding scooters forward, backward, and on their stomachs
